Our Story
Halfpenny Postage is a design studio and greeting card publisher based in Toronto, Canada. Run by mother daughter duo Tory & Poppy. With humour and kindness are at our core, we feature designs and illustrations by renowned artists from all over the world.
The name Halfpenny Postage was inspired by Tory’s British heritage and celebrates the smallest stamp ever made in the UK – the halfpenny stamp. Each one of these little stamps cost half a penny, and was paid for in the 1800s with a formerly used British coin called a Halfpenny - pronounced ha’penny | hey-puh-nee | ‘heipni’.
Since launching in 2016, we’ve grown from producing just a few curated collections to releasing over 200 new designs every year. Our products can be found in thousands of retailers across North America.

Advent Calendars
Each Holiday season we work closely with one artist to develop and create a playful, nostalgic paper advent calendar. All advent calendars are developed with custom printing and unique finishes.
Halfpenny Postage x Indigo
Since 2018 we've developed plastic-free boxed sets for Chapters/Indigo in Canada. We work closely with independent artists as well as the paper team at Chapters/Indigo to get the perfect cards on their shelves for each Holiday season.
Ornament Cards with Clare Youngs
This Die-Cut 'ornament' card series was developed with UK based designer and collage artist Clare Youngs. Each double-sided foiled card was illustrated by Clare and then developed by our team to make a more dynamic, hangable greeting card.
Halfpenny Postage x Boucle & Papier
An exclusive collaboration with celebrated Montreal stationery boutique, Boucle et Papier. This elegant, French, typography line was developed with special finishes and printed in Canada.
Halfpenny Postage x Uppercase Magazine
In 2021 we collaborated with Uppercase Magazine to connect with artists Crissie Rodda, Alys Paterson and Leila Simon Hayes. Together we developed a line of distinctive greeting cards with special finishes.
Halfpenny Postage x AGO
Since 2018 we've been specially developing plastic-free boxed card sets with the AGO. Each year features winter scenes by notable Canadian artists such as the Group of Seven.
