12°C Mostly Cloudy

Two candles are lit on a dining table, they are sitting in a porcelain bowl. Carefully placed between napkins, plants and a cup of coffee.

The light is sitting very low over the water today and the sun sits on it like a metallic shield. The clouds are purple at the bottom and they hang low in the sky. Time to move indoors and indulge in the things that make up winter life.

I've been thinking about those rituals and pleasures that you enjoy each winter day to keep spirits up. Every morning I light at candle at breakfast as the Swedish do. As an early riser I'm often in the dark, my candle and coffee keep me quiet as I plan my day.

A small piece of pottery sits upon a shelf, holding 6 handmade spoons, 3 honey spinners from morrocco and two lemon juicers. Beside it sits a salt pig.

For my tea I use honey spinners that I watched being made at a market in Morocco. They're made of lemon wood and every time I use them, I'm reminded of the experience. The cats are tucked into fur-balls and it seems it must be time for another cup of tea on this mostly cloudy day.

A set of two images, the first two fluffy adult cats sleeping on a couch. The second a small cup for espresso, and a bowl of sugar.
